Legionella Awareness and Safety Courses

Candidates will benefit from our courses, which are designed to help you manage and control their Legionella risks and understand how to meet their obligations under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH), and, more specifically, those set by the Health & Safety Executive in their Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) L8.

The Legionella Awareness Course

Lasting for six hours, the Legionella Awareness Course is suitable for anyone who is involved with the management of the Legionella risk in premises, this could be as simple as taking the temperature checks that have been identified in a Legionella risk assessment. The training looks at the origins of the disease, the causes of proliferation, and how using an understanding of the causative chain mitigates the risk of Legionella in your water system.

The Responsible Person Awareness Course

On this two-day course, you’ll learn everything detailed above in the Legionella Awareness Course above on the first day, while the second day covers the ACOP L8. Specifically aimed at persons identified as the Duty Holder, Responsible Person, or Deputy Responsible Person, this course looks at the responsibilities placed on each person. It also looks at what constitutes a fit for purpose Legionella Risk Assessment and the frequency of tests and maintenance required by the ACOP L8.

Course Information

Both courses detailed above come with a test at the end. To receive a certificate, candidates must receive the passing grade of at least 70%. Course material is provided in the form of a flash drive containing course notes and other useful and relevant information. No prior knowledge is required to take the course and the tests are on the information given during the courses only.
